Emilia Mann

Emilia is a material researcher and apparel designer interested in using technology and science to redefine what garments can be in regards to concept, function, and sustainability. Her explorations range from advocacy and critique of current global trends towards authoritarian governments to explorations in utilitarianism to growing bio-materials. Emilia is competing studies material engineering at Brown University and apparel design at The Rhode Island School of Design. In the past she has worked at the NASA Johnson Space Center, proposing garments for use on the International Space Station and the Artemis Missions, for award-winning Austrian designer Julia Koerner, assisting in the design and development of garments that utilize 3D printing, and at the NASA Ames Research Center, developing Martian and Lunar habitats from mycelium.
