Merete Mueller

Merete Mueller is a writer and documentary filmmaker based in NYC. Her work explores landscapes, bodies, architecture, the environment - how we fill space and find ourselves at home.
Merete’s films have screened at SXSW, Hot Docs, DOC NYC, Rooftop Films and The Brooklyn Museum, via Al Jazeera, the Canadian Broadcasting Channel, Netflix, The New York Times Op-Docs series, and in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, VICE and as a Vimeo Staff Pick. She’s been supported by Rooftop Films, The Fledgling Fund, the National Endowment for the Arts, and in 2018 she was a Logan Nonfiction Fellow at the Carey Center for Global Good. In addition to her independent films, Merete also directs commercial and branded work. Past clients include GE, Toyota Prius, Ford, Facebook, Citbank, Bose, Vox Media, Vice Media, and Conde Nast. She studied Writing & Literature at Naropa University's Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, which was founded by Allen Ginsberg and a former Tibetan Buddhist monk by the name of Chogyam Trungpa. (She still has a daily meditation practice and a soft spot for radical poetry.) She has also taught writing and filmmaking at Bronx Community College.
