|Sculptor, performance, video, installation artist and landscape designer, Vito Acconci’s design provides subversive commentary that unites the social and physical.
Acconci's interest in the human body and its relationship to public space lead him to architecture, landscape architecture and furniture design. In the ‘80s he started a currently active ‘acconci studio’, a Brooklyn based group of architects designing public spaces- streets, plazas, gardens and parks, building lobbies and transportation centers.
Vito received his B.A. in literature from Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA, an MFA in literature and poetry from the University of Iowa, and has been an instructor at the Novia Scotia College of Art and Design, California Institute of the Arts, The Cooper Union in New York, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Yale University, and Parsons School of Design.
